Little Miss Slow-Coach
By
Rebecca (age 8)

Little Miss Slow-Coach lived in a small cottage in the countryside. You knew which was her house because it had a big clock on the front and even one in the garden.

Little Miss Slow-Coach loved clocks, her house was filled with them.

Now you would think with all those clocks that she was always on time, but because they were her clocks, they were always slow and told the wrong time. But she didn’t mind.

One day, Mr Greedy invited her to a Tea Party. He said to Little Miss Slow-Coach, "Please come tomorrow morning at nine o’clock. Don’t be late! Or there will be no food left."

Little Miss Slow-Coach did not want to be late so she went to bed at six o’clock.

She slowly brushed her teeth,

she slowly washed her face,

and put on her night dress,

slowly.

It took her so long to do all the things she needed to do it was two o’clock in the morning before she put her head on the pillow.

--------------------

She got up at eight o’clock in the morning, she was very tired! She started to get ready for the party,

slowly.

She slowly put on her party dress.

She slowly washed her face.

She slowly brushed her hair.

She slowly locked the door.

She slowly shut the garden gate.

Then slowly walked to Mr Greedy’s house.

When she arrived, Mr Greedy said, "You’re late! All the food has gone!!!"

Little Miss Slow-Coach said, "Why am I late?"

"Because it is two o’clock in the afternoon and that is when it finishes." he said

She walked slowly back to her house, so slowly that by the time she got back it was dark.

-------------------------------

In the morning she found she had no bread rolls for her dinner. She slowly rang Mr Happy’s shop.

"What time do you close?" She asked.

"Five o’clock." he said cheerfully, "But don’t be late because, I’ll be going home for my tea."

"Five o’clock. I have plenty of time." she thought.

So Little Miss Slow-Coach

slowly had a cup of tea,

slowly had her breakfast,

then she slowly put her coat on,

slowly got her shopping bag

and walked to Mr Happy’s shop,

slowly of course.

When she arrived at the shop it was shut and Mr Happy had gone home for his tea.

"Oh dear!" She said, "I can’t have bread rolls for my dinner."

"I have an idea." She said, "I will go to Little Miss Early’s restaurant for my dinner."

So she slowly walked to the next street.

She found the restaurant was open. She was very glad because she was so hungry now.

Little Miss Slow-Coach slowly found a table near the window and slowly sat down.

"What would you like?" Little Miss Early asked.

"Can I have bread rolls for my dinner?" she asked

"Dinner?" said Little Miss Early. "It’s breakfast time!"
